Lambchop share cover of Prince’s “When You Were Mine”

written by Bahar Muller January 26, 2017

Off the back of their critically acclaimed FLOTUS album that came out in November, today Lambchop have shared their cover of Prince‘s iconic ‘When You Were Mine’, recorded by the band’s new live line up featuring Wye Oak‘s Andy Stack.

The track comes ahead of the band’s sold out and only UK show tonight at The Roundhouse – the first of the ‘In The Round’ series as well the first show featuring their new live line up.

The track continues Kurt Wagner’s exploration of R&B themes on FLOTUS with an underpinning current of subtle echoes and flourishing piano lines. The many moving parts are tied together by Wagner’s skewed and distorted vocals to create a beautiful and intriguing take on the much covered track that stands it in a realm of its own.

Track is available here.
