Polaris Prize nominees share new video for ‘Sister’

Live dates in NYC, LA, Chicago, TX, and more

Canadian punk band White Lung have released a new video for track ‘Sister’. It was directed by Justin Gradin, who also directed White Lung’s ‘Hungry’ video and features a man’s attempt at finding love with two strangers. The track comes from Paradise, the fourth album from White Lung, which was released in May of this year.

Gradin on the video:

‘In a lonely world a man seeks to find love through his telephone. He discovers two women with whom he becomes obsessed with from their captivating and elegant conversations. In the end, these two women’s thrilling lives and escalating partying leave the man feeling isolated and rejected again.

It’s basically a 90s chat line commercial on PCP.’

On Monday (19th), White Lung performed two songs at the 2016 Polaris Prize gala from their Polaris shortlisted album, Paradise. Catch all the performances here.

White Lung will be touring throughout Canada for the month of October before heading down to Texas for the first annual Sound on Sound Festival. They’ve also announced a performance at this year’s Red Bull’s 30 Days in LA Festival plus a string of dates throughout Australia.

‘The quartet are banshees, pummeling their demons with speeds and screams so loud and fast that masochism matures into pleasure. Despite this, in between soberingly honest anecdotes regarding body dysmorphia, substance abuse, and trauma, White Lung are romantic. In this style, “Kiss Me When I Bleed” explored the inherent relationship between desire and disgust. The result is like if the lawless, drug-addled characters in a Harmony Korine film decided to adapt Romeo and Juliet.’ – PITCHFORK

‘Mish Barber-Way’s deadliest vocal delivery to date’ – BILLBOARD

‘the best punk band of the current decade.’ – BROOKLYLN VEGAN

‘…we’re not going to stop shoving them down your throat until you accept it and White Lung becomes the biggest band in the world’ – NOISEY

‘hot shit-all uptempo restlessness and witchy swagger-full of renewed raw power at every transition.’ – VICE
